PVMHS School Building Committee · Meeting of May 21, 2026

Peabody's school building committee voted to name its three MSBA Designer Selection Panel representatives. The committee unanimously approved Mayor Ted Betancourt, Superintendent Joshua Vidala and School Committee member Beverly Griffin Dunn to sit on the Massachusetts School Building Authority's 16-member Designer Selection Panel, which also includes 13 state-appointed members. Four design firms submitted proposals for the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School project ahead of a deadline the day before the meeting, with the first DSP review set for June 16.

Project staff outlined MSBA reimbursement caps, including a $678 per-square-foot construction cap and a $1,915 per-student furniture cap, and said Peabody's current 59.67 percent reimbursement rate could rise by three to four incentive points. Members also debriefed tours of Somerville and Waltham high schools, flagging security design, library traffic flow and CTE shop layouts as lessons for Peabody's new building.
