City Council · Meeting of January 8, 2026

PEABODY — The Peabody City Council rejected a motion to restore City Hall entrances to pre-pandemic access. Council voted 7-4 against Councilor Corvo's request that the mayor reopen the front, side and back doors, after an 8-3 vote to move the question. Councilor Rossignol said the motion "has validity" but preferred hearing from the mayor first, while Councilor Turco said the restrictions began as a COVID health measure.

The council approved an online-only fortune teller's license 11-0, appointed Gary Boer and Brian Vinagro to the Community Development Authority, and continued two hearings to Jan. 22. Council President Michael Higgins said eight members are needed for a quorum at that meeting.
