Peabody School Committee heard emotional testimony on bullying and advanced its high school rebuilding project. Sally Rosario, the sister of Jason Bernard, told the board patience "should not be mistaken for silence or acceptance of inaction" and called for accountability from staff and leadership. The committee voted 5-0 to hold a retirement recognition ceremony before the last day of school after receiving a letter from veteran teacher Mrs. Higg.
Vice Chair Beverly Griffin Dunn reported four design teams have applied for the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School project, with a Massachusetts School Building Authority panel of 13 members and three Peabody representatives expected to choose a firm by mid-June. The board also approved warrants of $106,643.89 and $2,197,986.99, and Finance Subcommittee chair Mr. Olimpio said the district settled union contracts over the summer without a strike.
