Committee approves warrant, presses org-review costs
School Committee · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Peabody School Committee presses staff on cost of outside organizational review. Members approved warrant No. 6507 for $4,022,776.23 and voted 6-0 to receive four written communications, including an FY27 Innovation Career Pathways grant award. Most debate centered on UMass Boston's Collins Center for Public Management, hired to review the district's organizational chart and job descriptions at an estimated $10,000 to $15,000, with a report due around December 8.
Member Miko said "that's taxpayer dollars, that's something we should be voting on as a committee, personally," arguing the full committee never approved a specific cost. Member Dunn separately distanced herself from colleague Miko's MCAS criticism, saying "I don't remember talking about MCAS" at any education subcommittee meeting. MASC consultant Alicia Mallon will present on open meeting law October 27.
