School Committee · Meeting of May 5, 2026

Peabody School Committee approved $931,903 in budget cuts, 5-1. Superintendent Dr. Vidala's second tier of reductions removes four high school teaching positions (English, math, science, social studies) and 2.5 administrative positions, plus $175,000 in health insurance costs. The draft budget fell from $103,542,447 to $102,610,544, against a target of just over $101 million.

Mr. Olympio moved the package and Mrs. Dunn seconded. Ms. Millman voted no after her request to separate teachers from administrators was not put to a vote. Dr. Vidala said "the administrators come back last" if money is restored.

The committee recessed to May 12 at 5 p.m.
