Peabody's Light Commission rescinded two motions and approved a $55,200 tower painting contract. Commissioners voted 5-0 to award Public Utility Maintenance Incorporated the job of painting four steel towers, plus $7,600 for lead-paint sampling and lab analysis. Following legal advice that a hiring-freeze motion and a motion for outside utility-law review were improperly handled, the commission voted to rescind the first, then rescinded the second 3-2.
Kearsarge presenters proposed a 10 to 20 megawatt battery near South Lynnfield, saying a 10 megawatt system could cut costs 2 percent to 4 percent under a 50-50 shared-savings, 20-year deal. Commissioners also reviewed an evaluation matrix for two power supply bids and agreed by consensus to send a battery charging rate to the state DPU.
