Library Shifts Summer Hours At South, West Branches
A winning $500,000 Massachusetts State Lottery ticket was sold at a North Shore convenience store in Peabody, according to a Patch report, while the Peabody Public Library rolled out new summer hours at its South and West branches this week.

The Peabody Public Library's South and West branch locations began new summer hours effective July 6, 2026, per the library's website. Under the updated schedule, both branches will operate Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Friday and Sunday closures at those two locations. The Main Library on Main Street continues to keep its own separate, longer weekly hours, including evening access most weekdays.
The library also continues to promote its 2026 Summer Reading program and the Teen "100 Books Before Graduation" challenge, which invites students in grades nine through 12 to log reading on Beanstack in exchange for free books and a chance at a prize bag for completing the full 100-book goal. Library patrons can also access the Peabody Newspaper Archives, which include digitized Peabody newspaper articles dating from September 1844 through the present, available on-site at library computers due to copyright restrictions on the more recent collection.
